Since hitting the streets to help clean up straight after Cyclone Yasi, YWAM Townsville has now joined with Townsville City Council to help launch the Restore Townsville Clean Up Program.
Restore Townsville is a volunteer assistance program to help elderly and unsupported people of the city with the clean up following Cyclone Yasi. Townsville City Council – along with YWAM and Volunteering North Queensland – is organising a massive working bee this weekend to help residents, community and sporting groups to move trees and debris. We are taking registrations from volunteers, who will be put into teams and matched with homes requiring assistance to clean up their properties.
The YWAM Townsville October DTS outreach teams are currently busy at work receiving phone calls and inquiries from those requiring assistance and from volunteers who are interested, all gearing up to this weekend’s massive working bee.
As you can see from the footage below, there is much work left to be done to make Townsville look as beautiful as it did last week before Cyclone Yasi left its mark. We look forward to playing our part.
