The Port Moresby team has had an exciting week. They celebrated Christmas back in Townsville and are now back in Airlie Beach to be a part of a program called Impact Summer, which is YWAM Whitsunday’s New Years Holiday program to connect with the community and hand out free chai at the chai tent and provide free music. This is all underway! The team has been out in the community telling backpackers and locals all about the chai tent and why they are here in Australia. One of the students Katie shares about her talk with a backpacker she encountered while out one day.
“This week I got the opportunity to connect with a guy from England in Airlie. We quickly got into a conversation about Jesus. We went to Macca’s and got ice cream cones and sat to talk because he was interested in our beliefs. Towards the end of the conversation he said he saw a difference in Melissa and I, and that he wanted to come to the chai tent on New Years Eve to talk more and learn more.”
The team has also continued to serve here in Airlie Beach by helping get ready for the chai tent. They have been building tables, making and cutting flyers and so much more. Here are some pictures of the team in action.
The team is excited for bringing in the New Year with the chai tent and people from all over the world. They wish everyone a happy new year.
