The first week of outreach for the Ayr Outreach Team has been busy! They connected with and served the local Ayr community in the build up to Christmas by cleaning up Anzac Park, handing out free pancakes, inviting people to sports in the local parks, and engaging in discussion about family and Christmas. Some of the team visited the local hospital handing out candy canes and chatting to patients.
On another day they volunteered at the local ‘driver reviver’ – an initiative of various volunteer and government agencies that provides free tea, coffee and biscuits to weary travellers to help prevent road accidents during the public holiday seasons on Australia’s long roads.
Arriving back in Townsville on Christmas eve they have enjoyed a refreshing couple of days off and are now getting into some construction and cleaning work on the YWAM Medical Ship, ahead of it’s return to PNG next year.
