As we continue to regularly monitor and assess the Papua New Guinean and Australian governments’ advice in response to the coronavirus pandemic, there still remains much uncertainty.
As a result, we are now planning to suspend ship-based outreaches with the MV YWAM PNG until 2021. This decision has been weighed against many factors, including the travel restrictions placed on international volunteers who make up 70% of our personnel.
We are continuing to utilise this unique time to develop our operations, as outlined in our activity plan.
A notable development is the expansion of our training opportunities in a range of sectors. These developments are progressing well and will position us to be more effective in delivering transformational training that integrates skills learning with character development.
We will continue to monitor and assess the impact of COVID-19 and adjust our planning accordingly.
YWAM MS is deeply committed to serving remote communities in Papua New Guinea and will do all we can to ensure that we are well-positioned to resume our full suite of field-based operations in remote, rural areas at the appropriate time.
