Trukai Donates 1.8 Ton of Rice To YWAM Medical Ship Volunteers

Papua New Guinea rice supplier, Trukai, has donated 1.8 ton of rice to YWAM Medical Ships – Australia’s (YWAM MSA) medical, marine and general volunteers.
YWAM MSA delivers health care and training in remote areas of Papua New Guinea (PNG), including immunisations, maternal health services, dentistry procedures, optical services, and collegial support for rural health workers with their Training and Medical Ship, the MV YWAM PNG.
 All of YWAM MSA’s staff, including the Managing Director, are full time volunteers who raise funds outside of the organisation to support their work.
Trukai Chief Executive Officer, Greg Worthington-Eyre, said he was pleased to be supporting YWAM MSA.
“The work YWAM is doing is critical to the immediate and future health of rural Papua New Guinea. Their aspirations for a healthier population in PNG is well aligned to that of Trukai, hence we have no hesitation in providing this support,” said Mr Worthington-Eyre.
YWAM MSA’s Managing Director, Mr Ken Mulligan, said he was grateful for Trukai’s support.
“We have approximately 100 medical, marine and general volunteers onboard with us from all over the world – including Papua New Guineans.
“We are very thankful for Trukai’s donation of rice, it allows us to better direct our funds to where it is needed most – health care and training,” said Mr Mulligan.
The MV YWAM PNG left Port Moresby on Monday and is currently on outreach in Central Province – 12 different nationalities are represented amongst the volunteers who have joined the voyage.
