One person from each nation on Outreach 2.
One of my favourite things about working with YWAM Medical Ships – Australia (YWAM MSA) is the vibrant community we have on board. On our last outreach in the Western Province, we had 50 people join us from 12 nations including Australia, New Zealand, the United States, Nigeria, Germany, Canada, Papua New Guinea, England, Sweden, Fiji, Switzerland, and Denmark.
Last week, I took a moment to step back to watch our teams at work; I was amazed at the diversity. We had a German and an Australian working with local men in the village on a water tank, a Papua New Guinean engineer and a Nigerian engineer working on a generator, our English and Papua New Guinean dentists were performing a dental procedure, and our primary health care team was working alongside representatives from Western Provincial Health on a national immunisation campaign.
What a beautiful picture it was of so many different nationalities, ages, backgrounds, and professions united by their compassion for people. They were drawn from all over the world to make a difference in the Bamu region of the Western Province, a corner of the world that has been considered forgotten and neglected for so long. What a joy it is to help bring hope.
