YWAM Medical Ships encountered an emergency on the 12th of June which they were able to manage well with the aid of their Zodiac, donated by the Lions Club. The Primary Healthcare team was in Baimuru, Papua New Guinea (PNG) doing a routine clinic when local parents brought their sick daughter in. The initial assessment indicated cerebral malaria – requiring immediate care at the local hospital. After contacting Kapuna Hospital, nearby, it was agreed YWAM MSA would take the girl there.
Had YWAM MSA not had the Zodiac at their disposal, the trip would have taken the villagers hours via dugout instead of less than an hour. There are no roads between most villages, making it almost impossible to make it on land. Thankfully, the team was there just at the right time.
