Water is a vital source of life, but in Papua New Guinea, it can also be a cause of disease.
Moerk Water duo, Martin Brezger and Madeleine Brezger, joined the YWAM Medical Ship, MV YWAM PNG, on a two-week outreach to visit villages along the rivers and learn more about peoples lives and the quality of the water they have access to. Their preliminary findings showed that the water source used every day for drinking and washing is not only often lacking in quality but in most cases is not sufficient to last for all the families all year round.

As a first step, Moerk Water installed a solar-powered reverse osmosis unit on the MV YWAM PNG, which is being used for the patients and volunteers serving onboard the vessel. In the future it will be used for training purposes.

It is Moerk’s mission and desire to work alongside YWAM Medical Ships and local authorities in improving access to safe drinking water in remote communities by using sustainable, self-contained and integrated systems – providing enough daily drinking water for an entire community.
