The Ship DTS Central Provence team will be in Pelagai village for another 4 days before they take the 6 hour drive back to Port Moresby to join the YWAM Medical Ship.
They are still enjoying their time in the village and have had a number of opportunities to share in Pelagai and other villages nearby. On Saturday they walked 30 minutes in the rain to share at a market in Maupa village, they presented dramas and shared stories of things God has done in their lives. The local were very grateful that the team were willing to still come and share with them despite the bad weather. The rain has cleared up over the weekend and there are blue skies today, which is a blessing!
On Sunday the team lead the church service at the foursquare church in Pelagai including leading worship, sharing a drama and preaching. It was a first for the team, and they really enjoyed the opportunity to lead and share with the congregation.
This morning they are teaching at the men and women’s fellowships at the church before heading to one of the schools to teach in the religious instruction class.
“At first I experienced some culture shock – bucket showers, fetching water and a few minutes walk through the mud to the out house took some getting used to. However, I am now enjoying this simple way of life and am much more appreciative of what I have at home. What amazes me is how joyful and how giving this culture is, even when they have nothing. They praise Jesus with such an energy, something we have all learnt from. I came here thinking we would teach them so much, and we have, but I believe they have taught us so much more. God has also been teaching us lots during this time. Last week we went to a nearby village to pray for a lady named Helen who was suffering from head, neck, back and leg pain and from what we could understand possible malaria and a parasite. She did not look well and had not been out of her house for quite some time. We had heard that he was doing better, but it wasn’t until we went back to Helen’s village to do a program that we saw how much better she was! My faith in healing has now increased! I am excited to do more work in the medical clinics in the upcoming weeks and to see what God will do.” Marnie Stark – Canada
