I like the New Year…that first time you write the date and realise a whole year has clocked over and you are back to writing the month as 01 and trying to remember to keep the year on straight! Can I still say that now that January is almost over? 🙂
A New Year is always so full of promise! Its like we all suddenly feel like we can accomplish anything! We bust out the (often) unachievable New Year’s resolutions and plan to do things so much differently this year.
If you are like me, any New Year’s resolution has usually worn out by January 31st, and you are wondering where all that New Year enthusiasm went 🙂
These days I have deliberately decided not to make New Year’s resolutions…not because I don’t want to accomplish things, but because, I want to start as I continue…
Instead I start the New Year asking myself…what will sustain me this year? What is the word that I will hang onto that will keep the fire burning long after the enthusiasm has run out?
For me, this year its – keep your eyes up. We all go through seasons, tests, trials…but to keep my eyes up in all of that?! Now there is the challenge…to not allow the circumstances that surround me, or the news headlines, or my bank balance, or whatever may come my way, to take my eyes off the prize.
I am reminded of the quote: “When you reach for the stars, you many not get one, but you won’t end up with a handful of mud either. (Leo Burnett)” For me, that’s a really good reason to keep my eyes fixed on what I hope for and not on what I think I can achieve.
And with a New Year, there is a whole 365 days of tomorrows “fresh, with no mistakes in it.” (LM Montgomery) What a gift!
So, how are you tracking for 2016? What is your word for the year? Whatever, may be in front of you, here’s hoping that this year is full of promise for you!
We would love for you to join us in our journey this year, we know we have many adventures in front of us and we would love for you to be part of that adventure.
Happy (belated) 2016!
