The Pacific Discipleship Training School are having a great time on Palm Island. They are at the end of their second week of outreach and have had some amazing opportunities to connect with the local community.
The other day Jason, one of the students, was walking on the jetty and happened to spark up a conversation with one of the old indigenous men fishing that day. As the conversation unfolded the old man shared stories about life on Palm Island and about his sons. Jason took the opportunity to honour the man on behalf of his sons and the sacrifices he made for his family. Honouring is a big thing in Pacific culture and when Jason stepped out and thanked the indigenous man it brought tears to his eyes because he’s never been thanked for anything ever.
Reconciliation is one of the things that the team wanted to do while on Palm Island and the they hope this story will be the first of many that they get to be a part of.
