Gulf Provincial Government Support YWAM Medical Ship

The Gulf Provincial Government have donated K200,000 to YWAM Medical Ships – Australia (YWAM MSA) for the Medical Ships medical and training outreaches in the Gulf Province.
Gulf Provincial Governor, Governor Havila Kavo, presented the cheque to the YWAM MSA Ship Manager, Hannah Peart, onboard the vessel this week in Port Moresby.
This year represents the Medical Ship’s fifth year of trips to the Gulf Province; focusing on the Kikori District.
Since it began voyages to Papua New Guinea (PNG) in 2010, YWAM MSA has achieved 167,839 outputs including; primary health care, dentistry, optical services, health promotion initiatives and capacity building for rural health care workers, dentists and optical workers in the Gulf and Western Provinces and the National Capital District.
In February last year, YWAM MSA signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Gulf Provincial Government in Parliament House which outlines a mutual agreement to work in collaboration to achieve sustainable health outcomes in the Province.
YWAM MSA Managing Director, Ken Mulligan said, “What we’ve been able to achieve so far with the Gulf Provincial Authorities and health workers on the ground has been tremendous.”
A collaborative partnership with the Provincial Government is the key to long-term results, so we’re obviously very grateful and happy to receive this.
Governor Kavo stated, “YWAM MSA has the unique ability to access remote locations where health and training service delivery is lacking. I am pleased to continue our partnership as we discuss and strategise the development and expansion of YWAM MSA’s involvement in the Province.”
