G’day,
We are just keeping you up-to-date on cyclone developments here in Townsville. Cyclone Yasi is on its way toward the North Queensland coast, aimed to hit Innisfail which is around 250km north of Townsville. Due to the size it is expected that we will feel some effect – strong wind and rain.
We have implemented our emergency procedures for cyclones. We are not situated in a low lying area, so evacuation at this stage is not necessary. It is important to note that cyclones are quite common in this region and while this is certainly larger than usual, our community has taken all necessary precautions as the storm approaches.
For your added information I will attach the link to the Bureau of Meteorology website which has a tracking map. The map is updated regularly based on best estimates as the cyclone continues to move. It also includes additional information that you may find helpful in understanding this weather system in Australia. Go to www.bom.gov.au click on the state of Queensland in the map, then click on the Forecast Track Map for Tropical cyclone Yasi and you will see the tracking map.
We appreciate your continued prayer and we will endeavour to keep you updated as the situation progresses. It is anticipated that we will lose power at some point so please don’t be alarmed if it takes us time to get back to you.
Blessings,
Ken Mulligan
