Puma Energy & YWAM Medical Ships Strengthen Partnership

YWAM Medical Ships and Puma Energy met in Port Moresby this week to strategise on their partnership.
Puma Energy has been a major supporter of YWAM Medical Ships since 2015 through the provision of MV YWAM PNG’s total fuel and lubricants requirements for their healthcare and training activities in the Southern region and Huon Gulf, a donation valued in excess of K1m per annum, totalling more than K3m as part of a two-year sponsorship agreement signed last year.
Fuelled by Puma Energy, the MV YWAM PNG and her team of 100+ volunteers, travel to isolated communities delivering essential healthcare and training. The MV YWAM PNG’s most recent medical patrol was completed in June, over 27,000 patients in 171 villages received healthcare and training over five months.
YWAM Medical Ships Managing Director, Mr Ken Mulligan, said that he was grateful for Puma Energy’s ongoing partnership.
“Puma plays a vital part in the development of Papua New Guinea, it is wonderful to find like-minded partners who are committed to helping to achieve great outcomes for PNG.
“Today we have met with Puma Energy to strategise and further cultivate the relationship between both organisations ,” said Mr Mulligan.
Earlier this year YWAM Medical Ships and Puma Energy expanded their partnership through their youth development program, which is aimed at championing young people to discover their potential while engaging in service.
Four young people from Kouderika, Roku, Tatana and Baruni (villages in close proximity to the Napa Napa refinery) were sponsored by Puma Energy to volunteer aboard the MV YWAM PNG for their outreach to Central Province
Puma Energy’s Country Manager, Mr Jim Collings, said that the partnership with YWAM was a natural fit for Puma Energy, given it’s ongoing focus on improving the health and education prospects for women and children in the country

The MV YWAM PNG is currently undergoing further renovations as part of Stage III of her refit. The MV YWAM PNG is due to return to PNG waters in October this year for a further seven-month deployment to the Southern region and Huon Gulf.
