The North Queensland Toyota Cowboys established a new partnership in 2010 with Youth with a Mission (YWAM) to promote the important work of the YWAM Australia & PNG Medical Ship Tour in improving vital health services in Papua New Guinea.
The ship will dock in August 2010, and with the support of the Cowboys, will deliver primary health care, dentistry services and ophthalmology surgeries, plus distribute spectacles in the Gulf Province in PNG.
The venture aims to work alongside existing health clinics to help PNG achieve the Millennium Development Goals of combating HIV/AIDS, malaria and other curable diseases, and addressing infant and maternal health.
Cowboy Matthew Bowen is the program’s official ambassador and mentor, and will be used as the ‘face’ of the PNG campaign to raise awareness of issues such as good nutrition and preventable health care.
