In response the unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic, YWAM Townsville has been nominated by the Townsville City Council to coordinate and deploy Care Army volunteers to local volunteer-involving organisations in the Townsville region.
The primary focus of the Care Army is social connection and essential services for Queensland’s seniors and other vulnerable community members.
YWAM Townsville will match Care Army volunteers to organisations who deliver essential human and social services in the Townsville community.
Volunteering Queensland has an agreement with and will be working in partnership with YWAM to support strong local volunteering in Townsville. Those in need of help will then be able to receive the support they need from caring, generous members of the Care Army who will be matched to recognised local volunteer-involving organisations that deliver essential services.
YWAM Townsville has been serving the North Queensland region for over 25 years and is well positioned to help mobilise and empower volunteers to support the community during this time.
