The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Treasury in the national government of Papua New Guinea, Honourable Charles Abel MP, will visit Townsville in June for YWAM Medical Ships’ annual business event, Breakfast by the Sea, to be held on Friday, 15 June.
In addition to being the Keynote Speaker at the event, Mr Abel will take the opportunity to help strengthen the growing links between Townsville and Papua New Guinea.
The PNG Deputy Prime Minister said that he is looking forward to his first visit to Townsville.
“There is great potential for further collaborative partnerships between Townsville and Papua New Guinea in many areas. The direct flights that commenced between Townsville and Port Moresby 12 months ago has been a great step toward expanding these relationships, but there is more to come.
“YWAM Medical Ships continues to play a strategic part in connecting Townsville and PNG through the work of the ships and their land-based teams that are serving in PNG’s remote areas.
“Townsville has been an excellent home-port for YWAM Medical Ships over many years. I am sincerely grateful for the level of support and generosity the city has extended to help make YWAM’s work a reality and ensure it grows. I look forward to expressing my thanks in person in a few months’ time,” he said.
YWAM Medical Ships Managing Director, Mr Ken Mulligan, said he is delighted for Townsville to host the Deputy Prime Minister during his visit to Townsville. “Mr Abel has been a strong advocate and supporter of YWAM Medical Ships for the last five years.
“His leadership played an instrumental part in securing our training and medical ship, the MV YWAM PNG, in 2014, and he continues to advocate strongly through a collaborative and respectful partnership toward the expansion of our work in PNG’s coastal and rural areas.
“The Deputy Prime Minister’s visit to Townsville is a great opportunity for the city – we will be helping to maximise the visit by facilitating additional meetings and events for a range of key stakeholders.” said Mr Mulligan.
The Breakfast by the Sea has been a key business event on Townsville’s event calendar for the last number of years, with over 700 guests in attendance last year.
This year’s event will be held on June 15th, and is shaping up to be even more spectacular. To secure a table at the Breakfast by the Sea visit ywamtownsville-org.staging.precedence.com.au/bbts or call 07 4771 2123.
