The Ship Discipleship Training School are all back together on board the MV Pacific Link in Port Moresby. They have had fun sharing their experiences over the past 2 weeks with each other and taking time to catch up with each other.
This week they are having their first lectures on board, learning about inductive Bible study . They are enjoying being back in the classroom and spending time focusing on the Bible. This morning they had a ‘show and tell’ where each outreach team got to share some of their highlights from the last few weeks and presented some of the dramas they had learnt with one another, a lot of fun was had by all!
The school will be together for just another two days before the Highlands team leave the ship on Thursday to spend some time in Port Moresby. The Central Provence team will stay on board and will sail to the Gulf Provence with the ship this weekend.
“The past two weeks my team has been on the ship working in the health clinics in the Gulf Provence. I have been working with the dental team as a dental assistant. The first week we were working alongside a self trained dentist from Kapuna. It was a great experience to see how skilled he was and to be able to see the other dentists teach and learn from him.” Sonia Lamb – Australia
“The last 20 days have been quite the experience, trying to explain it all would be a challenge, you really have to try it yourself to fully understand what it is like! I enjoyed my stay in Pelagai, it was cool to see the generosity of the people and experience their hospitality. I was quite amazed how a simple conversation could mean so much to the people in the village. For me, the most memorable moment was sitting with ROA Alu, a lady from the village, and hearing her life story. Her husband works in Port Moresby, so she lives in the village looking after her children and grandchildren. She shared with me about the challenges that her and her family face. It was a blessing to be able to take time to listen to her and pray for her, and she was quite overwhelmed that I would want to do so. I realized that simply taking the time to hear someone’s story rather than just talking to them can really make a difference I their life.” Annalisa Gaardlykke – Faroe Islands
