An Australian by birth, Dr Doug spent several years of his childhood living in PNG, so he was thrilled when his tok pisin (local pidgin) came back to him easily.
That’s why, when he handed a man he was examining a cup and instructed him to bring back a urine sample, he anticipated all would go according to plan.
“He must drink a lot of water,” Dr Doug thought when he returned with a very clear up of liquid.
A bit confused and certainly hoping this wasn’t a strange local custom, Dr Doug put the test strip into the cup and realized that the man had misunderstood and brought him a cup of water to drink instead of a urine sample.
After a good chuckle, they were able to get the sample needed!
