Keep it Simple
When it comes to taking a powerful perfect photo, it really is quite simple. All you need is your object, a steady hand, and your camera ready. You don’t need fancy angles or dramatic filters.
Perspective
Just as in life, it is the same with capturing a brilliant photo- keep good perspective. When you’re about to take a photo, it is good to be aware of all angles and the detail of the object you are trying to capture.
“The whole culture is telling you to hurry, while the art tells you to take your time. Always listen to the art.” -Junot Diaz
Use the Grid
To turn it on, go to Settings, select Photos & Camera, and enable the grid feature. The grid feature will help you take an even balanced photo. The grid refers to “the rule of thirds”, which breaks the screen down into 9 even squares. The idea is to place your subject in either the top, bottom, left or the right third of the screen. The middle is the known “No No” placement. The idea is that you want to split the image into a 1:2 ratio (one third and two thirds), instead of in half.
Lighting
Lighting is KEY. If you have wrong lighting your photo will most likely suffer. It is almost always a good idea to keep the light in front of your object. For example if you’re taking a photo of someones face…you would want the light shinning upon them, not coming from behind. Natural light is the most organic crisp light you can get. So open your eyes, find the best lighting, click, and shoot.
Never Imitate
You are you and there will never be another you. No one on this earth can create the things you are capable of creating and capturing. Never try to imitate another photo or photographer- it just won’t work. Follow your own excitement and passions. Shoot what excites you and what brings you life. If you can capture your own excitement, then you’ve got a good image.
