Gulf Government donates K 100,000 to YWAM Medical Ships

The Gulf Provincial Government donated K100,000 in support of YWAM Medical Ship – Australia’s (YWAM MSA) continued work in the Gulf region of Papua New Guinea (PNG).
Since 2010, YWAM MSA has provided 93,354 community development, training, and health outcomes in PNG; 19,595 were delivered throughout the Gulf Provinces this year.
CEO Ken Mulligan said that the Gulf Province was the first place the ship visited in PNG three years ago. “We’ve had a great partnership with the Governor and other provincial leaders, as well as with the health care workers and village leaders on the ground. We’ve been able to do some amazing things together and we know that this will only improve with the new level of support the government are providing.”
YWAM MSA utilises unique innovation to initiate holistic community development activities and projects, which empowers communities to take ownership by participating in achieving long-term, sustainable outcomes.
“It is wonderful to see how health has improved in places previously visited, and to see that local leaders are always pleased to connect with our teams,” said YWAM MSA Medical Coordinator, Hannah Peart.
The Gulf Government joins other partners in the Gulf Province: InterOil, National Department of Health (NDoH), Rotarians Against Malaria, and other Australian-based supporters. The medical ship embarked on its seventh and final outreach of the year into the PNG on Thursday 13 September and will return to PNG next year.
