Christmas is a great time of year to be generous and give to the less fortunate, but for a boy named Tom Cartwright, that is his heart all year round! While visiting the dentist recently, Tom saw that 1300SMILES was collecting toothbrushes for the YWAM Medical Ship to take to PNG. He had been assigned a project at school to pick any charity he wanted to help, so he chose the YWAM Medical Ship. With gratefulness, YWAM representatives accepted his donation of toothbrushes, but Tom’s story doesn’t end there.
Tom and his dad have their own boat that they take fishing, and they also love to sail it to where they can see the Medical Ship. Tom told his dad that it was much bigger than he thought it would be and he looked forward to coming on board. He was very keen to find out where the supplies would be stored prior to the next trip up to PNG.
With the help of Dannielle and Rebecca from 1300SMILES, it was organised for Tom and his dad to take a tour the Medical Ship! As Tom walked down the stairs of the Ship, he was all giggles. He was curious to see where the beds were and said he would have definitely picked the top bunk! As he made his way to see the clinic, sitting in the dental chair was a must since he had recently had his wisdom teeth out and was very aware of the dentist’s chair.
Thanks to Tom, and many others who have collected toothbrushes, the YWAM Medical Ship will be able to provide some much needed supplies to the people of PNG to help keep their teeth healthy!
