Our History
You might know YWAM (Youth with a Mission) for the work that we do in Papua New Guinea with our medical and training ship. However, YWAM has a 29-year track record of youth work in Townsville. Over the years there have been over 150,000 young people in our region engaged in different YWAM youth programs including various youth camps and dynamic school seminars.
In 2018 YWAM purchased the former Salvation Army ‘Recovery Centre’ in the Townsville CBD, now known as the Youth Precinct. YWAM has invested significantly into the site, first renovating the housing through basic cosmetic renovations, and then facilitating a comprehensive refurbishment ensuring a secure, safe and welcoming environment for youth.
After extensive consultation with many organisations, YWAM is now preparing the Youth Precinct for the next phase, to develop the warehouse and outdoor area to enhance youth activities across Townsville and beyond.
