Hospitality is a powerful gift that helps build community and shows care for the individual whilst meeting practical needs of people. This training doesn’t just offer training in skills it imparts to students the heart of how excellent hospitality can express a sense of peace, value and belonging. This training provides very employable skills and when hospitality is done well it opens doors to be an influencer.
A Certificate III in Hospitality (SIT30616) provides a pathway to work in restaurants, hotels, resorts, cafés, and coffee shops.
The course includes a combination of online study and volunteer work experience at the YWAM Townsville City Campus, allowing you to gain real ‘on the job’ experience within the context of charitable service. Your work experience may include helping to provide meals for volunteers, assisting with catering at events, guest services, and preparing and serving drinks at our on-campus cafe.
High School Students
Year 11 and 12 students can undertake this course while in school. These cohorts run over 18 months, with online study at your own pace and one day per week of volunteer work experience at the YWAM Townsville City Campus.
High School Graduates
Students who have finished school can also complete the course over one year. These cohorts are full time (20 hours per week) with a combination of online training and volunteering at the YWAM Townsville City Campus.
YWAM MS Staff
This course is also available to YWAM MS staff who wish to enhance their skills and knowledge while on the job.

Centrelink
This training is approved for Austudy/ABSTUDY. Students on this must study full time (i.e. one year for 20 hours/week – including their in-office vocational hours) in addition to meeting all other Centrelink eligibility requirements.
